Hospice Cup 2024
Talbot Hospice has been chosen as one of only four hospice care organizations to participate and benefit from Hospice Cup 2024 on September 14th.
Meet Our Hospice Cup Crew!
We’re so excited to have a boat participating in this year’s Hospice Cup Regatta in Annapolis. Seasoned skipper and racer Doug Abbott entered his boat, Flyer, a vintage Cal 40, on behalf of Talbot Hospice. Beyond being a fun and friendly race, Hospice Cup is America's largest charity regatta designed to raise awareness of hospice care, and provide important financial support for area hospice organizations. Doug has sailed the 635-mile Newport Bermuda Race three times, winning his class and being within one boat of winning the entire race.
Crewing with Captain Doug will be Talbot Hospice Board President John Horner, Board Member Jane Delashmutt O’Mara, and other local sailing aficionados.
Hospice Cup is a great event for a great cause, so please consider donating to our crew, or becoming a sponsor!
About the Hospice Cup
Hospice Cup is America’s largest charity regatta in numbers and dollars, and began in 1981 as an informal race among a small group of people interested in sailing and hospice care. Since then, the race has evolved into Hospice Cup, Inc is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to raising funds for and awareness of hospice care in our region.
Based out of Annapolis, MD, they host an annual sailing regatta each September to raise funds and awareness of participating local non-profit hospices. This year Hospice Cup celebrates 43 years of raising sails, funds, and awareness for hospice care. Participating hospices use funds raised through Hospice Cup to continue to offer quality end-of-life care to patients, their families, and friends.
Hospice Cup 2024 is focused on raising funds for Grief and Bereavement Services, which often is not covered by insurance.
