To celebrate our 35th anniversary, Talbot Hospice is initiating a community-wide effort to encourage and assist as many residents as possible in understanding their choices at the end of life and completing their advance directives paperwork stating their wishes. The initiative will kick-off with an event March 31st at the Avalon Theatre featuring Dr. Angelo Volandes, a Harvard Medical School physician and author of The Conversation: a Revolutionary Plan for End-of-Life Care. Dr. Volandes will talk about his book and his belief that a life well-lived deserves a good ending. In his book he argues for a radical re-envisioning of the patient-doctor relationship and offers ways for patients and their families to talk about this difficult issue to ensure that patients will be at the center and in charge of their medical care. This event is Talbot Hospice’s gift to the community for their 35 years of support and will be open to the public at no cost.
