Support for Children

Children Dealing with Loss
When children are faced with the death of a loved one, they will need help understanding what happened, how it happened and how to deal with their feelings.

To help children cope with their loss,
we offer the following programs:

Rainbow Days
Group bereavement counseling for children who have experienced the death of a significant person or pet. Coordinated through local public and private schools. Call the Bereavement Coordinator for more information.

Memory Bears
Memory Bears are handmade by hospice volunteers.  The fabric is usually taken from an article of clothing that belonged to the loved one who passed away. These meaningful keepsakes bring comfort to children and can be a constant gentle reminder of a loved one.

Hospice Coloring Books
Our coloring books have eight pages for children to color with captions that explain in a simple and gentle manner about the Hospice philosophy. The books are available in English and Spanish and are packaged in sets of 25.  Coloring Book order form click here
